Here is an interesting blog about a Hindu wedding... http://www.samaystudio.com/blog/labels/W...

Good info: http://weddings.iloveindia.com/indian-we...

It looks like pinks and reds and golds are the rich wedding colors. you could incorporate those into the decor

Some ideas:

Centerpieces: a large round mirror that laid flat on the table in the center. On the mirror place a 3-inch tall large round glass dish that is filled with water. In the bowl float large orange marigolds and red rose candles. On the mirror rim, sprinkle red and deep pink rose petals, and place two pairs of green pears (pairs of pears) and gold votive candles. The result is romantic and lovely using the "Indian" colors.

Favors: An Indian wedding might include a sachet of cardamom pods to make the traditional cardamom tea served at Hindu weddings. http://images.della.com/ngs/WeddingChann...

Exotic incense sticks like sandalwood, to burn in the room to create a refreshing and pure atmosphere would definitely add to the senses.

Best wishes..................

Reply:well first off, congrats, i hope it lasts long second, i think you could find a much cheaper DJ, the most i've seen is... maybe 500. I would tell u where to find a good dj, but i have no clue here u live.

you need to go to a dollar store, it can still be a beautiful wedding, even w/ a few things from a dollar store.
Reply:Some neat ideas for centrepieces would be to get bowls and float candles in them, or little drinking glasses of various heights with ribbons fitting of the theme wrapped and tied around the middle-- each with a candle floating in water. You can put a little round mirror underneath to reflect the light back up. I think that would be pretty! Or how about several shortish vases with pretty branches/leaves, stuff you could gather in nature, if it's a more earthy theme.

Congrats!

Oops. I'll include some info on favours as well. Most people go way over the top with including all these personalized trinkets which most people don't even keep. Here is a list of wedding favour sites for ideas : http://www.theknot.com/ch_article.html?O...

Some information as to what are traditional favours at Indian weddings: http://www.theknot.com/ch_qaarticle.html...
Reply:I think you have already saved a lot of money by not hiring a wedding planner. I have found the cheapest seat covers in town. $2.50 including sashes and rental.

For favors, I have ordered a cute couple hugging salt and pepper. They have assorted colors and includes wrapping in an organza bag for $4 a pair. Very very cute!!

Contact me so I can give you more info. Btw, the seat cover thing, she is also a free wedding advisor. So ask her for any more questions that you have.
